Default Installing seat covers

Just bought a set of seat covers for my split bench and passengers seat.
I was told I need to pull the seats to adequately install the seat cushions....anything I need to be sure I do correctly?

As I see it there are four bolts and I'm there.

are those replacement seat covers or do they go over existing? If they are replacement, you will need hog rings and stuff

I was told that they fit over top the existing OEM seats. When the guy sold them to me
($35) he said that the seats needed to be removed so that the seat cushion "covers" could be properly secured. He suggested wire ties or string. The Back covers could be installed without removing the seats. Which I can see should be an easy task.

Gino....a local guy here in Va. Beach. He said he got them off eBay I think.

I did a dry fit yesterday without removing the seats and they look great. But, found a tear on the top of the back of one of the seat backs. I'll need to take it to a seamtress to have repaired. I also found the the split bench seat cushion is cut short at the armrest area. Not sure if this was done by the previous owner. This may be why he didn't install them.
Either way they look great and add to the interior look. I'll have pics to follow.
All I need now is an armrest cover. It's a shame these fold down armrest never seem to hold up to the wear and tear from leaning on them. The top lid is cracked and the latch get stuck in the open positon, not to forget they are stained as hell.

Here are pics of the dry fit I did yesterday. The side/frt/rear flaps still need tying down (which apparently can only be done by removing the seats).

Note the poor fit on the driver's side seat cushion. Not sure if the previous owner had modified this cover. Other than that they are a great add to the interior, considering the stained & tears in the original seat fabric.
Not bad for $35.

Default Re: Installing seat covers

I just pulled the seats out of my 99, removed the covers from the seats (factory) and threw them in the washer for a good cleaning.. There are no Hog rings, jst strips of velcro in the pleats. You have to remove the backs from the bottoms to get the covers off/on. You will need Torx for the backs. If you take off the covers (factory) check the rear of the drivers seat to see if the metal spring to support your back are broken. I just tied some parachute cord (3 rows) from top to bottom and added some padding... All good now..

Good luck!

My passengers seat cushion was pretty well torn up. Replacements were needed.
It's good to know the seat covers (factory) are that simple to remove and reinstall.
Still haven't removed my seats to secure the aftermarket covers I installed.
Thanx for the input.
