Thumbs down Coat Hanger and Center Console

I have an 04 Ranger Edge (Splash) I have two interior things wrong. They are both cosmetic really but I am pretty intent on making these things right cause that's how I roll! I could use any advice anyone has!

1) I have a clothes hanger broken off from the headliner. It looks like something too heavy was put on the hanger mount and pulled the nut and bolt clear through the headliner breaking the plastic bolt mount. Anyone have ideas for a fix? I was thinking of pulling one from a junker and then epoxying or JB welding a "cobble" in to hold the hanger mount mainly for cosmetics but if it'll hold a shirt thats great! I really don't want to do a whole headliner but if I can get one of those fairly reasonably from a junker who knows?

2) My armrest is cracked inside and when I put weight on it, which I do to get in and out of the truck I feel it give cause its cracked and eventually it will probably have a crushed appearance or sag or just plain break in half which I cannot have. I have checked and the junkyards around seem to have these. I also saw where they have a support system to put in as a fix but my armrest doesn't look like the one in the pics. Anyone? Buehler?

Mine is a box type arm rest with storage in it. I appreciate you getting back to me but I think we have different styles. I think I am going to go pull one from a junkyard and if that doesn't work I am going to tear it apart and fabricate my own beef up plate. I like using junkyards and making my own fixes as long as they will look legit. Nice lookin ranger btw!

I priced some parts for my arm rest and just a replacement lid for my center armrest console is around $80 from Ford and the coat hanger is $7! It looks like I am going to have to pull the seats to get the console unbolted. Still looking for more knowledge on this though!

Do you have some photos by chance?

Im a visual person lol. If you dont need a hanger you can "shave" the hook.

Also, maybe some padding and a new fabric may help the other problem, but pictures would help.

Thumbs down Re: Coat Hanger and Center Console

Give me like 2 minutes and I'll post some pics. I had to go pull some pics off FB. I will Post them. I don't have one of the Clothing hanger but its just plain busted off and broke the headliner mount piece thats behind it! All thats left is a small hole in the headliner!

The console is shown in the pic but I searched hi and lo and found no bolt holes or nothing. They seem to be underneath the seat? I may be able to take the lid off and make a "beef up" plate outa wood or plastic and redo the lid fabric?

----------

The pics will be in my album for my truck!!!

----------

Ok so can't get my pics to upload because they are .bmp not .jpg?

Paste them into paint, go to file, then save as. You can save as a jpg in there

Is the coat hand the one than has a "spread" clip on it, that spreads the clip on as you screw it in?

If I see a picture of the armrest I can offer more advice. Theres always heatgunning it to smooth it then adding a pad and new fabric, which would be super cheap.

I have less than 50bucks in my interior in fabroic, about another 50 in paint. If you dont mind playing around, its a cheap way to stand out and make youself cmfortable lol

Ok got the pics up in my album. You will not be able to tell anything is wrong by looking at the armrest. Its cracked below the foam on the plastic lid. The only time you can really even tell is when you push your elbow down on it. I think over time getting in and out and putting elbows into it for support caused it to crack. That right there gives me an excuse to buy running boards LMAO!

I don't know much about the hanger hook. Its behind the passenger side overhead and its only $7 to get a replacement from Ford. Really I am not too worried about it right now. I can figure out a way to fix it. I just don't know what to do with the lid. If I can find one at a junkyard i'll just replace it or I'll have to buy a new one or build something custom!

Thanks again for advice about pics!

Man thats a clean truck, bed especially!

As for the coat hanger, if you can remove the clip and get anothe rone thatd be fine, when I redid my headliner I removed mine and put a push tab (like what holds in some trim and headliner) in the hole instead. Id just about gurantee I have mine somewheres, but its in need of a paint strippin lol.

As for the armrest, Id remove it and take to a local fabric store. Get some thin foam if you want and a fabric that matches it best. At this point you can sew a cover up for it, or simply make a "pad" top, and leave the rest the same color.
