I asked this in electrical and am not getting any respnoses, I am going tomorrow to take parts off this truck and need to know. My buddy has a 01 edge just like mine that he rolled and he is letting me strip some things off of it (for a little green of course) and he has tilt/cruise in his truck that I want.....what all do I need to pull out of his truck to hVe the cruise work properly????

The first thing you want to check is that your Ranger has the harness connector under the hood. It is a wide flat connector with 8~10 wires just behind the windshield washer reservoir. If so, then your truck should be prewired for speed control.

The parts you need are:

• Speed control switch pods with wiring.
• Steering wheel trim that has cutouts for the pods.
• Speed control clockspring assembly w/attached subharness.
• Servo/module with mounting bracket and speed control cable (fits underhood where you found that connector).

If you want to swap in a complete steering column assembly, you should be able to substitute that for the first three on the list. Just be aware that there are several component differences between manual and automatic columns. Tilt and non-tilt should swap without any problem.

Also, the speed control cables from 3.0 and 4.0 engines are different lengths.

IMPORTANT: To avoid the possibility of breaking the clockspring, you will need to verify that it is properly clocked to center before installing it in your truck. If you transfer the column or clockspring from one truck to the other, just be sure that the front wheels are pointed straight ahead on both and do not rotate the CS or steering wheel while making the swap. If the centering of the clockspring is in doubt, instructions for recentering are usually printed on the C/S housing or you can find them in the shop manual.

That's it. I believe that it has a protective cap that gets removed before plugging into the speed control servo.
