Re: NYS is getting a bit picky with inspections!
In Denver Metro (6 or 7 counties, 3million ppl):
Emissions says they check all dash bulbs for operation. And check the "magic book" that says what every vehicle should have for emissions compliancy.
It says my '83 should have a BELT DRIVEN air injection pump, and an EGR valve, and an emissions canister, and obviuosly a catalytic converter.
After failing 3 times for not having an air pump BUT PASSING THE TAILPIPE TEST WITH FLYING COLORS I just took it to the other emissions location. Waited another 2hrs, paid another $25, then told the girl looking under my hood "its an army truck, it has an internal one" and she passed it.
They test gas caps as well to make sure they hold pressure. Wanted to fail me because one of the two caps didn't vent properly but did hold pressure.
I'm so glad I have friends in Wyoming to register my real toys with lol
