Respect. You've got the git'r'done in ya.

Still you've got to admit the indicator light is the whole point of the entire diagnostic system. Maybe you can wait till you can move your neck without setting off a spasm to admit that though...

I told em do the inspection, let me know if it needs anything, let me know, and I'll fix it. They just so happen to not find anything wrong. Hopefully your problem isnt a PA problem, as when I did my cluster swap, I took the CEL out becauseit wouldn't stay off.

hahaha, i cant imagine anyone here inspecting anything more than headlights and horn. I have a tahoe with warranty so I'm still getting dealer to work on it. i had them do an inspection the other day and he noted that my windows were WAY below legal limit. and then he proceded to put my sticker on haha. they dont give a shit! there is one station in town that if you bring your license and $30, they hand you a sticker without seeing the car!

We used to have those up here until the registry of motor vehicles tightened up and took away some stations . I guess part of it is good , but sometimes it is just a pain for all the stupid stiff they inspect now .... Any local bar room and you could buy one right there ...

If you are that upset call the state and complain. The shop will be fined if they indeed were in the wrong or they can explain why it did fail. I lived in NY and was a NYS vehicle inspector before I moved to MI where we have no state inspections.

They were following the guidelines, so I doubt I would get anything out of it. It just seems like the state is pulling on strings now. They try to get as much money as possible out of consumers. We just had red light cameras put in too.

While the inspections seems asinine and expensive at times it does keep vehicles that are unsafe off the road for the most part. In Michigan I do see a lot of vehicles that come in the shop that have parts falling out like tie rods, wheel bearings. I see mirrors broken, cracked windshields, lights broken, all things that would fail the NYS inspection. I'm not saying I totally agree with the costs or all of the guidelines but I do agree that it can keep people and the roads safer. It really doesn't sit well when I work on a car that is just unsafe to drive and I see a baby seat in it. I agree it can be a bit picky.

I don't know about other states, but in PA, a bike does fall under the vehicle laws and must comply with traffic patterns and road signs; though you don't have to get a separate license or certification for it. You can get a traffic ticket or fine for violating those laws. On the other hand, they entitle a bike rider to be on the road with all the rights and privileges it entails.

ny state is way retartded on alot of issues, money thing is way out of control here.its time to leave no doubt.and yes in nyc youll soon have to register and possibly insure bicycles.(think the bike lanes were a good idea and free now) but the motor vehicle inspection procedure goes way overboard.

Thats a little nit picky...I'm glad we no longer have inspections, they're always a PITA. I will admit though that if all they did was ensure the vehicle was safe to drive then it would be alright because I have seen some cars that looked downright scary going down the road.

Yea, a freakin dash light. Even thought I fixed it and its over, its still BS! NYS is so hard up for money, they'll nail you for everything. And believe Joe who posted above, many politicians are trying to get people to register bicycles. Just wait till you have to be registered to walk....
