I ment 520 not 510, I fixed my post. But yeah I've read good reviews on them. 80% of my reason for getting one is to have a pa hooked up.

Hey stephen, if you do do it like I did, its just a piece of diamond plate about 6incheds wide, and probably 16-18 inches long,
Also I looked at that uniden one, it looked nice but my father has had countless cobras, with nothing bad to say, so that and the cobra being 15 bucks cheaper made me get that, I might upgrade in the future

Mount it under your light switch on the left of your wheel. And be sure you mount the antenna on the hood, opposite of your FM antenna.

And advice for the OP I hear the quality of antena makes a big differance. so when buyingyour a radio dont spend all your money on that and buy a cheap antena.

That's because there is no "hi/low 120 channel cb". ...not officially, anyway. The FCC authorized 40 discreet "channels" of citizen band (CB) radio frequencies between 26.965 MHz and 27.405 MHz using amplitude modulation (AM) at a maximum of 5 watts power. Some individuals and/or companies are modifying certain CB radios with higher wattage output (sometimes 10, 25, 50 watts or more) and also adding an upper sideband (USB) and lower sideband (LSB) mode of single sideband (SSB) operation in addition to the AM operation -- this is how they achieve the "120 channel" designation. An AM signal is comprised of a carrier suppressed full-wave modulated signal; an SSB signal is comprised of a carrier suppressed single sideband (either upper or lower) modulated signal. So, technically on one of these modified radios, you could run upper sideband, lower sideband or both (the AM signal can be thought of as combining the upper and lower sidebands together) -- as such, you don't really have 120 discrete channels available, as (for instance) channel 4 USB and channel 4 LSB would be unusable if someone were currently transmitting on channel 4 in standard AM mode.

Clear as mud?

[edit: added this!]

Also, I should note -- SSB operation on these frequencies is not illegal; some radios, in fact, include SSB operation in addition to standard (AM) CB operation. ...these units are, of course, usually more expensive than 'standard' CB radios. Modifying these radios to produce more than 5W of output power (whether it is AM or SSB), however, is illegal... as is operating any radio so modified within FCC-controlled radio spectrum.

you totally just confused me haha. all i know is i have 40 channels on the low setting and 40 channels on high. Then the other 40 channels for listening to the truck drivers and talking to people with regular cb's i guess. when we hunt we use the low channels so other people cant listen in on us lol

Here's the short version. The Upper and Lower side bands are add-on novelty channels that only very few people have and use. You will find very little activity on it so its nice for when you don't want to listen to the usual bullshit.

USB & LSB aside, for the most part, a CB is a CB is a CB. Get whatever model best fits where and how you want to mount it. And the focus your time, money, and effort on the antenna and coax installation. That is what will make or break the setup.
