Exclamation wrinkles on painted vents??

Sounds like you need to sand them more and use a adhesive primer on them before applying color.

could have been contaminates, like armorall.. existing paint need to be removed and cleaned, use prep-solvent to clean b4 painting

You said wrinkling and cracking , thats because they might have been painted before . What you described is a paint reaction. You can paint over old enamel with urethane ,but you can paint enamel over urethane . Thats mixing different chemicals the wrong way. If they were just contaminated with armoural then you would get fish eye . paint doesnt adhere to silicon and thats what armoural is . Armoural doesnt cause wrinkling and crackling . As far as getting rid of the paint you can only sand them , paint remover usually melts plastic .

We use thats stuff as well to prep plastic in my shop but usually on bare plastic only . Cant use it on painted surfaces .

This is just another insight as to what might be going on with your vents . But to really know whats going on post a pic .

ok well here is a picture of what's going on... so what I can do is sand the parts where the paint is wrinkly when the vent is dry and then paint it? or do I just have to sand the whole thing and do it all over again..?

been painting for 18yrs, cld be the temp you are spraying at, or you are applying way to much paint, either way,..... sand, wash, spray light coats untill completely covered, then apply a heavy/wet coat at finish, wait 10-15min between coats, I recommend you spray at at least 60-70 degrees room temp

not it's not gummy at all but there are those ripples in some spots.. so I'll sand it right now and then do a light coat and get back to you to let you know what happens.

thanks a lot

drop it in a container with some super clean. it'll strip the paint off. we use it to strip paint off model cars.
