Finally got my explorer console for my truck. I need to now how to take the arm restportion apart so I can recover the armrest. I have taken the armrest off the console I need to know how to take the bracket off and the cup the bracket sits in and how to get the bracket off so I can install new cloth cover. Mine is grey and it wont dye lighter so I need to replace it. Thanks

which console so you have? shorty or full length? if shorty, the arm rest doesn't really come off the hinge. (it does, but doesn't need to to recover) the full length is just a matter of screws.

Is the material covering it just wedged in there? I have a shorty. Got it from Houston.

yes, the material just tucks in around that opening. here are a couple i have recovered.

i use a piece of welting to hold the material down in there. works pretty well.

I stuck a screw driver in between the edge and the material . It seems pretty rigid. Not sure one can stuff material around the edge with out some damage due to no room. But I am not an upholsterer so I have no skills at doing that. Whats your address ? I will send it to you to recover for me.
