Default Gauge clusters, look the same, but not, Help!

Anyone had any experience with gauge cluster differences? They are seemingly the same year model everything. But one nothing works on. The guts are swapped from one cluster to mine. So even if the gauges were bad I should still have the lights. Help please.

What exactly did you swap, the gauges themselves? Have you checked to make sure you got the plug fully seated?

I installed my ODO onto the new white face and put into the old original housing, hoping to avoid any issues. So all the gauges cept for the ODO are from the new white housing. I just dropped them into my housing and called it good. Most of the bulbs were bad in the new white housing so figured it would be a win win. Oops.

P.S. yes I checked and played with the connectors thuroughly multiple times. Thanks, any thoughts?

Was this "replacement" cluster working before the swap?

Supposed to be, but I did not test it. It just seems odd that only the turn signals and the theft light would flash? I know the wire/ribbons are good as they are mine. I'm gonna give it a thurough once over this weekend to see if there's any discernable diference in them.

Well not looking good as far as being an easy find. The units are dated real close and have the same serial number. Mine is 5/24/01, white is 8/6/02, they are both 1L5F-10C956-BA. All the ribbons look to be in good condition. I guess I'll try cleaning all the contacts and giving it another go? Allthough I am noticing that the black (mine) gauge has Fuel Door> on it and the white does not. Hmm white gauge says "fuel reset", black says "check fuel cap", white says "4wd high", black says "4wd", black(original) says "check susp." white says nothing.

Alright. Yes it works. Oddly there was a fuse blown it was a 7.5A about 3 down from the top of the fuse block. Now on to the next prob. Got a late model multi-switch and although it looks the same in body, but the connectors are all kinds of different.
OTNT on to next thread. . . . .
