Question Power window rattles when going down

I have an 02' Ranger XLT, and the drivers side power windows "shakes" or "rattles" as it's going down, it doesn't do it every time, and it never does it going up. It seems like it's loose from the regulator or something, the passenger window is fine. Anyone have a fix for this?

Red face Re: Power window rattles when going down

Not sure how to describe it, it's almost like it rocks back and forth, like it's uneven. Only slightly annoying but I figure it's going to break sooner or later. I tried spraying silicone lubricant in the window tracks, but that didn't seem to help at all.

I Have the same issue. It never does it when im going up, only down and when its wet (rain/snow). I wonder if there is a guide like they had in GM autos. And like everyone else, its only on the drivers side, maybe due to the fact its used more.

I think its a design flaw my 2009 does this and I also sprayed silicone in the tracks and I noticed when the window was partly down there was a lot of play in the side to side movement ( window glass too small ) When I get time I"ll have the dealer look at it and if anything can be done I"ll report back with a fix.

I had a tech look at it while I was getting my warranty service done and he told me it was slack on the pulley that brings the window up and down. How it happens, I couldn't tell you, but I know fixing it involves taking the door panel off.

My 2010 has been in twice for the issue and they tell me its a dirty window . They clean the glass and send me on the way . I found a new place to bring it and they said the same thing as XLT08 said above as I believe its a design issue as well . Only when it goes down . I have to drop it off when I can make an appt , so I'll comment after i get it fixed ....

Wink Re: Power window rattles when going down

Sorry no update yet, I am going to take the door panel off and see if I can figure it out, but it's been cold and wet here in Michigane, and I don't have any heat in the gararge, so it will wait a few more weeks until it gets a little nicer out.

Mine kind of rattled/squeaked when i first got it. Pulled the door panel off and got some WD40 on the track, and it quit. Maybe yours is as simple as that. Could some the components getting loose though.
