Default gas gauge is past full mark

So now something wrong again. My gas gauge is past full mark. What can I do to try to fix it before having to spend a lot to fix it. Thanks

When you say past full mark, how far above the line is it? And does it stay there? Whenever I fill up my truck it always goes above the full line and after about 30-35 miles it hits the full line. I'm pretty sure that is just the normal behavior of these gauges.

is it full of gas? then its normal, lol... if you think gauge maybe bad, buy another cluster and swap it. you can swap just the gas gauge its self as the cluster is 3 different sections, remove cluster lens, and pop out gas section and replace.. just snaps in

How far past? Post a picture. How does it indicate for conditions other than full?

When was the last time you filled it? Its normal for it to go above full when you have it filled up

That is way past any one I have ever seen. Mine will go slightly past, but not like that.

Ok, what does it do as you actually consume the gas. Like when you would normally be on E, where is the needle?

It does not move. Month or so ago it was at half full tank, now its like in the picutre. Can it be the gas? That truck hasnt been gas up in months.

Something is wrong with the gauge. Maybe just the needle itself is hung up on something. Looks like you may need to just replace it.

Its not going to have anything to do with the gas. Unless it is some kind of anti-gravity gas. I would be willing to bet the electrical connection on top of the tank is corroded and shorting to two wires to the sender together. An open circuit will indicate below empty. A closed zero ohm circuit will indicate way above full.

Early tonight I put in $10 of gas and drove across town. Let the truck park for hour or so and the gas gauge went down to half full.
