air stuck in defrost

Hi everyone im new here. My 97 ford ranger 3.0 v6 was parked in a field for four years till i fixed it but now the air only comes from the defrost. I know this is vacuum related and hissing is coming from the switch( which ive replaced 3 times now) i have vacuum till i get to the switch. i have been able to move the door manually so i know that it can direct air and isnt broken.but any ideas would be helpful ive been working on this for nearly a year and just want it to work.

I had the same problem with mine. And it ended up being that the wire connection was a little lose and that fixed it right up.

check under the hood on the passenger inner fender for a black sphere shaped part. should have vacuum lines on it. that's the most common spot for them to have problems.

i have very strong vacuum until i get to the switch itself

Thank you everyone for helping me i finally found the leak.It was the red line to the thing that pushes the direction air(it was eaten through by a rat)
