Thumbs up 2011 Ranger Seat Belt "belt minder" deactivation

Hello to all. Some of you (like me) may have browsed the tech articles here and read about deactivating the seat belt reminder chime in the Ford Ranger. Well- I decided to try this in my 2011 Ranger XLT. I read through the instructions carefully in the owners manual- but could not get this belt minder deactivated or the corresponding indicator light (occupant safety belt light) to flash as it was supposed to either. So - that did not work using the procedure outlined in my 2011 Ford Ranger owners manual. I then Googled "ford ranger beltminder deactivation" and found this info from www.fordtough.ca which I will share here. This is the procedure used for a 2011 Ford F150. Here it is:

"Deactivating/activating the Belt-Minder feature
The driver and front passenger Belt-Minder are
deactivated/activated independently. When deactivating/activating
one seating position, do not buckle the other position as this will
terminate the process.
Read Steps 1 - 4 thoroughly before proceeding with the
deactivation/activation programming procedure.
Note: If you are using MyKey™, the Belt-Minder cannot be disabled.
Also, if the Belt-Minder has been previously disabled, it will be
re-enabled after the use of MyKey™. Refer to MyKey™ in the Locks
and security chapter.
The driver and front passenger Belt-Minder features can be
deactivated/activated by performing the following procedure:
Before following the procedure, make sure that:
• The parking brake is set
• The gearshift is in P (Park)
• The ignition switch is in the off position
• The driver and front passenger safety belts are unbuckled
1. Turn the ignition switch to the on position. DO NOT START THE
ENGINE.
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately one
minute)
• Step 3 must be completed within 30 seconds after the safety belt
warning light turns off.
3. For the seating position being disabled, buckle then unbuckle the
safety belt three times, ending in the unbuckled state.
• After Step 3, the occupant safety belt light will be
turned on for three seconds.
4. Within approximately seven seconds of the light turning off, buckle
then unbuckle the safety belt.
• This will disable the Belt-Minder feature for that seating position if it
is currently enabled. As confirmation, the occupant safety belt light will flash four times per second for three seconds.
• This will enable the Belt-Minder feature for that seating position if it
is currently disabled. As confirmation, the occupant safety belt light will flash four times per second for three seconds, followed by
three seconds with the light off, then followed by the occupant safety belt light flashing four times per second for three seconds again."

Now- being the curious sort of guy that I am - I figured that maybe the 2011 Ranger uses a similar procedure. (Obviously- the Ranger does not have the MYKEY feature-so we can ignore that info).Out to the garage I went and following this procedure exactly as printed here- it worked perfectly!! I take no credit for this info- thank the good people at www.fordtough.ca (posted by member pozi240) for posting it in their forums. To confirm the procedure- I found a 2011 F150 owners manual online and this procedure outline here is exactly how it is described there.
Hope this is helpful to those 2011 Ranger owners who wanted to do this but like me - found that the owners manual description of the procedure just didn't work. This worked for me. Best to you all.

I could understand the passenger one being turned off. sometimes you have stuff on the seat that has enough weight to set off the seatbelt reminder, but I wont this but still a solid find for those who want it off

My 2011 Ranger Owners manual must be wrong.
It says to buckle and unbuckle 9 times.
The lights did not flash appropriately and
the procedure did not work.

I read another set of instructions that said 3 times,
so I tried it and it worked the first time.
