Automatic door lock/unlock kit
Hey everyone. I came across this site and saw an automatic door lock and unlock kit that was fairly inexpensive. I have two links to give you. One has no remote and the other one does. My truck is a 2 door edge with manual locks of course . I never knew about this site, so is this site okay to buy from (trusted) and are the kits worth buying? If so, should I go with the remote one or without? I'm just sick and tired of either reaching across to unlock the passenger door or walking over to it and unlocking it like that. This kit would be so much easier on my part. Thank you.
With remote: http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/autol...?itemid=ck2000
Without remote: http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/autol...?itemid=cl2000
----------
If the links take awhile to load, please be patient. I have no clue why it does that. I'm using Firefox at my work so maybe that might be it. Thanks

Re: Automatic door lock/unlock kit
I was gonna check it out but it's down for maintence I guess. If I were you i'd go with the remote one, just for ease of access outside of the vehicle. I've also been looking for automatic door locks.

Just found that site, not sure if it's legit.

Re: Automatic door lock/unlock kit
Well here's the thing, I have a Viper Alarm with it and I didn't want to be carrying two remotes. And I don't want to disarm my alarm then turn my key and unlocks both doors. I could do that way. Or just get the kit without the remote and hook it up to my alarm but I don't think my alarm has keyless feature so I might just go with the simple kit and use my key to turn the lock and it will unlock both doors

Re: Automatic door lock/unlock kit
Buy the good stuff and be happy. This is by the same company (Directed Electronics) that makes Viper & Clifford alarm systems:
http://www.a1electric.com/Merchant2/...Code=W01F-712T
I got an idea you could integrate it w/ your alarm since it's the same company.
And i've been running A1's Directed Electronics power locks/keyless entry system for years w/ zero issues. The MES actuators are made in Switzerland, are excellent quality, and much more powerful than OEM actuators. There is even a tutorial w/ photos on their website of a Ranger door and how to mount the actuators and rods. Highly recommended.

Thanks but like I said, I don't want to use another remote because I already have my Viper remote so I don't really want to be carrying around two remotes. Probably order the basic kit that unlocks and locks the door when you use your truck key. Thanks though.

Re: Automatic door lock/unlock kit
One of the first mods I did to my old truck was remote keyless entry I got a kit off ebay for $50 and it worked great, very simple to install just bolt the lock solenoid to the window gear mount attach to the lock rod run wire, install the control unit under the kick panel, run more wire and your done.

Re: Automatic door lock/unlock kit
Nice, do you still know where on ebay you bought it from? And will it work if you turn your key in the door and push down the plunger, will it lock automagically?

Re: Automatic door lock/unlock kit
I would still go w/ quality parts like MES equipment from A1, not the Chinese items from eBay. I've read too much bad stuff about what's being sold there, but that is certainly your choice.

Re: Automatic door lock/unlock kit
This is the same brand and control box that I went with, all you would need is 2 actuators and mounts (you could easily use junkyard OEM parts)
http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-REPLACEMENT-...#ht_1270wt_905
I had this in my truck for 5 years and it always worked great!

Re: Automatic door lock/unlock kit
Suit yourself. A1 is definitely a legitimate operation with as good as or better than OEM quality products. It makes no difference to me what you buy, I was just trying to save you grief. Good luck.
