Default Replacing an Automatic gear shift knob (1996)

Well my gear shift knob broke off on my 1996 (w/overdrive) and I need a new one. I was going to go to pick a part today and look for one but I don't even know how to get it off the donor truck.

I'd like to know too. Want to see if the larger F-series or E-series knob would work.

F series will, I know that the main little cap can be taken of by a pair of pliers and you just turn counter clockwise, you could figure it out further from there lol

The little cap just pops off, it isn't threaded. The easiest way to get it off is with a pick set.

may be just as easy to get the hole arm. once you have access to the steering column, i think there are 4 bolts that hold it in place plus unhooking the linkage at the end. i put an auto column in my 93, but i'm doing floor shift so i had to take the shift arm off.
