so im almost done with my interior and im about to add a mustang dome light i picked up for 5$ at my junkyard.

I have 2 wires that ran to my existing light, and i thought it was a
plug n' play, but the mustang light doesnt line up,

any input/feedback?

I think its a direct swap for enxtended/supercabs. For your truck being that its a single cab the light (if I remember correctly) is mounted on the rear where the headliner bends and it would not be a proper fit, and thats why it wont screw in. You may have to stick with the original light.

you will have to run a third wire 12v power i believe to power the map lights

and yes the dome light is plug and play but only if your stock dome light was the big dome one if it wasnt then you gotta run a extra wire

04+ is when you have to run a wire, 03 and older it's plug and play. ground is the roof, one wire is for switched, and the other wire is for constant. The constant is not used with the basic square dome light. When I went from the basic square one to a bubble light I found out that the ground screw uses a different hole.

I believe so. I think some of the older rangers came stock with map lights.

my dome light was off when i got the truck but the wires are still there. its an ext cab if that helps

I can't wait till my junkyard thaws enough to go picking for a mustang light!

I got both my 2 bulb bubble light and 3rd brake light w/ cargo lights from a '93 and they both plugged right into my '03 with no modifications at all. Except for using a different hole for the ground screw with the map light.

ok, so just to recap:

it is a plug n' play for my reg cab, i just need to modify it a bit so that it will fit properly?

would anyone have any pictures of a mustang light in a regular cab at all just as a guide?
