Default Where is my check engine light?

My inspection is due next month and I just noticed I never see my check engine light up. I am pretty sure it should just after I start the truck. Should it be here?

Not my truck in that pic, just using that as an example. So, since it seems blown, is this a simple bulb to replace or will I have to do some soldering?

Thanks! Yup, bulb must be blown. Is it a 194 or something like that?

The bulbs which illuminate the gauges are 194's. The warning lights are smaller. They are either 161's or 1815's...probably 161's....I found a list of bulbs at an Explorer forum. There maybe a thread in the mechanical section here. There is one with a good how to on how to (with pictures) replace the illumination lights. If you turn your ignition slowly it will reach a spot where the warning lights turn on before you have gone to the point of turning the motor over. You should do that 1st and make sure it is burnt out.

Ive done that, its blown. Thanks for the info. I will probably just pull the bezel, find the bulb, and then replace.

Here is the how-to on removing the instrument panel to replace the illuminating lights. Be the same for you except you're replacing a warning light. I replaced all my illumination lights and this was of great help. It's not too much of a job really and only takes a few tools. The 194's are cheap enough that you may want to put new ones in while you are at it. Go for LL bulbs if you can find them. (194LL..Long Life)
