Explorer Leather seats
so i am going to the junkyard ina couple days and gonna rip some new seats out
i have a 2000 2WD reg cab, and was hoping to get some expo leather seats to put into my truck.
are they direct bolt-in? or if theyre not how much fab work would i need to do to make them fit properly?
*Ive done the explorer center console mod and i think better looking seats would be sick, hopefully gonna find out how to dye them when the weathers warmer haha

Sure is a direct swap, Being that you have a single cab, Your old seat tracks will have to go on the new Expo seats!
I have done both mods as well, And all I had to do to get my new Expo seats in my truck is swap the tracks.
Any more questions, you can PM me.

Re: Explorer Leather seats
yes they are with the exception that you have to open one of the seat mount holes up , one on both seats.

absolutely in NO way a direct bolt in. Just ask dcrymes or look for his thread. it took a lot of cutting and welding to get one in. they are a direct bolt in for ext cabs and for 97 and older reg cab. for the millionth time, 98+ seat tracks don't just unbolt from the bottom of the seat like 97 and older and like the explorers do. the best option the OP has for putting explorer seats in his reg cab would be to find a set of 97 and older reg cab tracks and bolt them to the explorer seats. then fab them to fit. there isn't much needed to put 97 reg cab tracks into a 98+ reg cab. but you would lose the power adjust-ability (other than lumbar is they have it).

Re: Explorer Leather seats
somebody once told me that swapping the tracks on a set of mazda mx6 seats would work as well, and i think they look a little better than the expo seats imo... but i tried to do the same thing in my 2000 that i had and they are right its NOT a direct bolt on, i ended up drilling out the mount tabs off the tracks on the driver seat and just static mounting the seat. In doing so the seat of course didn't move, sat about 2 inches off the floor in the front and it also sat crooked in the truck. however i got the passenger side seat in with no problem what so ever.

Re: Explorer Leather seats
Maybe I misunderstood something, but it is a direct bolt in for xlt , i HAVE MOUNTANEERS IN MINE WHICH ARE THE SAME as expo seats, I did not think a 2000 would be much different than a 2001, Or am I missing something here? do you have a single cab or extended?

Re: Explorer Leather seats
they are a direct bolt in for all ext cabs. the track lengths are different between ext cab and reg cabs in all years. 97 and older (ext & reg cab) seat tracks simply unbolt from the bottom of the seat and swap over to the explorer (mountaneer same thing) seats. 98+ seat tracks do not come apart like the 97 and olders do. they are integrated into the back rest as well. yes, you can split the backrest from the bottom, but you still have large mounts for the backrest tied into the tracks.
so 98+ reg cabs, you can't use the tracks, and the explorer seat track holes don't lineup in the floor. regardless of xlt, sport, etc. they all use the same floor pan.
98+ ext cabs, the explorer seats drop right, using the stock explorer seat tracks, with the possibility of minor enlarging of a hole or two.
this thread has good pics of how the 98+ seats tracks are.

Re: Explorer Leather seats
crap, didn't even think they are from r-f. you'll need to copy/paste them and take the space out before the .com to get them to work. censoring links on here really sucks...

You wont have to "fab" anything, You just have to get the '97 Ranger tracks, and put them on the new Explorer seats.
