without having a set in front of me, i have no idea why one would work and the other didn't. that's why i say it may require work. according to the measurements i have taken (just numbers, not actually installing a set), they should be off slightly.

Thats wierd, I don't understand why they would work on one and not the other?

i decided to take a look at the seats that are currently in my ranger, and they are bolted in on the bottom. so hopefully i can unbolt them from the bottom of my old seats and put them on the explorer seats once I find some good ones!

if they are stock 00 seats, the bottom pan unbolts from the rest of the frame. however, the backrest is bolted to the track assembly. while you can separate them, you won't be able to bolt new seats to them.

here is a pic of a 98-03 ranger track.

as you can see, the tracks and recline mechanism is all the same unit. i guess you could cut all that apart and make the tracks go on. i don't know the distance between the mounting holes on 98-03 frames.

So to update:

I went to the junkyard FINALLY..and I got one passanger seat from an explorer and I took brackets from a 93' ranger and bolted them on with no problems, I'll have to figure out how them in at some point.

**I am going back tomorrow for the drivers side seat, which is power:
- should i try to find a set of seat tracks from a drivers side from a 97 or older or use another passenger side?
- since the seat is power, any light on how to make all the power features work??

you will need the tracks from the driver side to put the seat in the driver's side. another passenger track will not work on the driver's side. the rear mounting points are not the same distance from the front.

as far as the power goes, you are going to lose it. i don't know of any gen 3 rangers that have power seats (other than lumbar). only way to keep the power would be to to modify the explorer power unit like dcrymes did.

Me and brent cut the ranger bolt holes off the ranger tracks and then we cut the explorer seat tracks shorter. Then we welded the Ranger bolt holes to the explorer seat tracks. The mountanieer seats are way to big in a single cab. And they don't sit even. I want something else. IF you want my advice on this. Cut your middle seat off and just have troy recover them for you.

So as i stated, I got my explorer bucket seats:

Picture of Drivers side (one i've worked on so far)

I was able to get the older seat brackets as I've been told, (which I took out of a 93' reg cab)

If you look at the seat tracks, in my truck 3 out of the 4 bolts match up perfectly the only one that doesn't is the bolt in the bottom left portion of the picture, I will either drill a new whole out at some point, (more pictures at another date)

So I was bored and decided to fit it in:

YAY!

the seat feels comfortable and I cannot wait to get the passenger seat in (I am debating on how to do a how to for the seats)

Lastly, does anyone have any input on how to dye the leather black to match teh interior of my truck?

Thanks!

thanks! unfortunately not electric though, theyre just manual seats, but i do have lumbar support which is nice haha

putting the electric components would have been awful, but they are way more comfortable than my stock ranger seats haha

the hole that didn't line up is the back inside? if so, i think someone else had the same problem. but it's not that hard to fix. you can either drill a new hole like you said, or do some slight cutting/welding to the foot on the track.

as for dying the seats, i personally say don't waste your time or money. do it right, get them recovered. they will last longer, look better, and there won't be any worry about color coming off or not being covered evenly, etc.

not a problem, but it would have been a pain to attempt to get them into my ranger, so manual is fine with me.

*to having them re-covered:

Are there any sites where you can buy expo seat covers that are identical to the stock ones?

----------

To clarify:

When you look at the 93' reg cab seat track that I have, the hole that did not line up is the one in the lower portion of the pic.

meaning when you are looking at the floor of the truck, the back bolt farthest from the door, (closest to my center console) is the one that is off
