Hey guys, when I went to lock my truck today using the key fab, nothing worked, so I switched the batteries in it, then tried my other 2 fabs and non of them worked, also, the lock unlock on the drivers side doesn't work so its a real PITA... Any help???

Have you checked all your fuses? After that I would start checking wires with a volt meter to make sure your getting power to the switches.

Stupid question... all three of your remotes are programmed right?

Ill do that for sure, and yeah they all are lol

I had that problem awhile ago,one morning out of the blue,all my fobs quit working.This fixed me up:key fob problrms
heres the missing text in Chads post
Sit in the vehicle with the doors closed with a PATS key that's already programmed for the vehicle and ALL key fob remotes you want to work with the vehicle including new un-programmed key fob remote.

With the doors unlocked, insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the on position eight times in quick succession. When doing this, do Not turn the key far enough to start the engine and don't turn it all the way to the steering column lock position.


Leave the key in the "ON" position on the eighth time.
The door locks will automatically LOCK and UNLOCK indicating the vehicle is now in the Key Remote programming mode.


Finally press the LOCK button on each remote, one at a time.
When you do this, the vehicle will respond with a quick down-up of the door lock buttons for each remote. Remove the key from the ignition and try the remote(s) again to make sure the programming was successful.


Make sure you have ALL remotes that are going to be used with the vehicle with you when you follow the above instructions. It isn't actually the key fob remote that gets programmed. Its the vehicle's computer that is programmed to accept the unique number that is hard coded into every remote. A programming session doesn't ADD remotes to the computers memory, it WIPES OUT the old remote memory and replaces it with just the remotes programmed in

Do you think it has anything to do with the trailer harness you are having problems with?

hmm, i dont think so, if this method doesnt work ill look into it though.

Sounds like something was shorted out. Do you still have the cover plugged in?

...well im a *******... haha my FABS are at school lol which is 2 hours away, I left them there seeing as they didnt work..haha so ill do it when i go back on saturday, im guessing thats the solution though!

Thanks for posting that from where I helped you rangerstranger, I didn't feel like finding that post unless I had too (it was late when I posted that LOL) so I just asked if they were programmed...

I don't see why it would just wipe the remotes out of the memory all of a sudden though...


02BlueRanger can you hear a click when you press the button on the FOB? My passenger side sometimes doesnt open with the FOB, sometimes it does. When it happens you can hear it click but the lock doesn't move. Its a problem with the lock getting stuck, usually I can spray WD40 etc in the lock area (same fix for the dome light and door ajar light comming on and not going off, not sensing the door closed) and it fixes it for a little while. Also, is it just your FOB that wont unlock or will the lock/unlock button on the door panel not work either?

well up to today the interior lock unlock button on the drivers side didnt work but now it does since i messed with it today, ill check my FABS when i go back up to school though i have a good feeling thats what it is
