Exclamation Ford Ranger 97

I have a question about my Ford Ranger 1997. If I drive long and fast, say on the interstate and I pull over at a gas station and have my truck off for 5 min or less, my truck will not turn back on just a few min after being turn off. I will have to wait maybe 10min or more.

I was told it was the gas going into the engine its too rich.

Has anyone have this kind of problem?

My gas gauge is also way over full, but it has to be filled up to max of the tank.

If anyone can help me, Thanks You..

Fuel pump is dying. Sorry to say but it is. When your truck "warms up" or runs for a bit, the fuel pump gets "tired" and wont like to start.

Take the 6 bed bolts out (torx 55) and take the tail lights off, get a buddy to take the bed off and replace the pump.

Deff do it yourself. Me and a buddy did it on mine but we dropped the tank. BIG mistake on our part. Getting it out of the truck was easy. Swapping the fuel pump was easy too. Getting the tank and the filler neck back into the truck was a bitch. The filler goes between the underside of the bed and the top of the frame so there is little room to work in onto the tank. If I ever had to do it again to one of these trucks I would take the bed off.

Okay, today I took my 97 Ranger to the motor vehicle inspection and failed, just for having a brake light out. Have to fix it and then go back and show them. What a wast of time!!!

I found out my engine light. code P1443
code P0171
code P0174

Just need to figure out how much it will cost to fix.
