Default How about some pics of seat and console swaps?

I really want to get rid of my 3/4 seat and get a dedicated console between two bucket seats. I read where some of you are pulling stuff from explorers and mountaineers. Are these usually direct matches to the truck? If I switch, it has to look natural, like it was supposed to be thee the whole time. I drive a manual, so if you have pics of mods that work for that i would appreciate it. BTW, 2001 ford ranger extended cab. Also, i know it varies from place to place, but what are you guys paying at a junk yard for this stuff? Thanks!

As I am working on older iron (83 - 95) I can't tell you much about the cost of newer stuff (95 - present). Older stuff in WA can be picked up for under $100 for good seats and console. NEWER?
The seats from an older Explorer will not fit, a newer one will.
The seats and console from a newer Explorer should be bolt ins, but if not because of the floor pan difference, you can change the rails from you existing to the new seats. You might even get eletric if you like.
Before you start looking, measure from center to center of the bolt holes on the front mounting holes of your 60/40 and pay close attention to the way the rear of the seat is attached.
There are others here who are more acquainted with newer RBV's than I, so I will let them take it from here.

Just tuck it up under the dash.

The wires would have to be extended to move it anywhere

there is a mounting bracket that has to go there

Bolt it to the bar that the air bag and ash tray were. The red circles are where the studs of the bracket go.

oooh, you are talking about the switch. I thought you were talking about the module on the floorboard behind the shifter.

I am not real sure of this, but the X I saw at the yard the other day had the console out and the air bag control was still in the vehicle, further forward and the legs in the back were longer, the control still sat level.
When you remove the console be sure to check and see where the control is mounted, you can also cut the wires back on the donor and splice them in to yours.

Do the seats need to be removed in order to properly mount the console? Or could one make due?
