Default Broken plastic floor pillars...

...are the bane of my existence.

Ok, so I just found out, today, that the part that I have been searching for so long is called a "floor pillar". I had NO idea what the damn things are called. All I know is that they run parallel to the "door sill protector". But the floor pillar is that thing that tacks down the carpet/vinyl at the door's edge. It's a piece of plastic, about 18-24 inches long (roughly) with 4 holes for the screws. NO ONE CARRIES THIS PIECE BUT THE FORD DEALER! Or do they? You tell me.

The last three vehicles I have owned: all Rangers: 86', '92, and now a 2004 Edge. I have broken every single one of the pillars inside of three years because I am in and out of my truck so often. What do you want, I am 6'4" with size 13 shoes...stuff get's kicked from time to time. I DON'T want any more plastic ones!

Has anyone had to get, or knows how to get fabricated pieces out of chrome or some other type of metal?

Thanks for the help in advance.

lmc truck sells the stainless ones that are found in the gen 1-2. these will work in any reg cab, and should work fine in the 2 door ext cabs.

i've always knows them as threshold plates, or sill plates.

Thanks!

I hit the Ford website and saw the piece on some kind of directions assemble drawing. They refer to it as the "inner inner back"...what? The door sill protector is called the "outer outer back"...again, WHAT?

Ok, so they're $21.27 each, for plastic. The metal ones you showed me are 59.99 for the pair. I will be ordering the metal ones.

My passenger one is messed up but it could just be the screw that needs to be replaced. What kind of screws do they take? Alligator screws?

So I got my truck back from Citrus Ford today after I told them NOT to rape me for $900+ repairs for a throw-out and/or syncro replacement. As I was there in the parts department, I asked the guy behind the counter about said floor pillars. His reply, "We wouldn't carry metal ones, only the OE replacements for a Ranger. I would just take them to a metal fabricator and have them spit you out a couple." Thanks for the advice.

I know it's old but figured I'd ask rather than making an entirely new thread... I actually use the search feature ;-p
