Default How to check the Fuel gauge

I was wondering how to check the fuel gauge on my truck because The other owner says it doesn't work, but when I filled it up with fuel it went way past F to where I couldn't see the needle any more. So I know how to test the gauge when I pull the sending unit out, But is there a way to test it with out have to pull the sending unit out and just pulling the interment cluster out, cause I'm going to redo the backing on the interment cluster so while its out if there is a way to test it Please let me know.
