Re: Seats that fit in the Ranger
Just picked up a set of mint condition 87 mustang gt seats for 50 bucks i found of craigs list to put in my 02 edge. I will post pics when i get them in. My question is why cant i just take the tracks in my truck now off of my seats and bolt them to the stang seats. I know it will take a little moding but seems like it might be easier then finding 93-97 tracks.

Re: Seats that fit in the Ranger
because your seat tracks (98-03) are part of the recline mech. the tracks won't come apart from the recline mech.
here is an exploded view of 98-03 seats.

Thanks! Drill/knock out 16 rivets and open up two holes one the passenger side on the front and drill the two front holes on the driver side other than that it only took total about 4 hours.

Re: Seats that fit in the Ranger
This is a great thread. I have been wanting to replace my 60/40 seats since the driver seat is getting very worn. I just found someone selling some nice leather seats from a 2001 Explorer. They should bolt right into to my extended cab.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to wire them so I can use the power adjustments? My seats are currently all manual, so I was wondering what would be a good place to get the power from. I am not new to modifying or wiring, just wanted some suggestions, so it might save me some trial and error time looking for a suitable power point.
Thanks!

if you have an ext cab, explorer seats will bolt in (including power optioned ones). if you wanted mustang seats, you would need to grab a set of 93-7 ext cab ranger tracks or a set of 95-01 explorer tracks. then anything on the list will bolt in. you will need to reuse your seat belt and mount it to the side of the seat.
for the reg cab guys, they won't bolt in using the explorer tracks. you would need to get a set of 93-7 reg cab seat tracks. they may require a little modding to get them in, but shouldn't be too much. once you have the 93-7 reg cab tracks, anything from the list will bolt them. however, you will not be able to use a power optioned explorer seat (other than lumbar). the seat will still fit on the tracks, but the plastic on the side of the seat will have the switch. if you can live with a switch that doesn't do anything, then you would be fine. you will also need to reuse your seat belt and mount it to the side of the seat.
to get a power seat out, i take my 12volt craftsman drill with me. i unplug the seat, use jumpers from my battery and hook it to the plug. works well.

I just did that swap with two leather Explorer seats. They fit almost perfectly - you will just need to enlarge one bolt hole on the seat - not sure why Explorers use different size bolts - but I just used a large drill bit and drilled out the hole. Take me about 5 min to do both seats. Once you do that, they will bolt right in.
The hard part was running power to operate the electrical seat movement. That took a little trial and error, but I got it all done in an afternoon. I haven't hooked up the seat heaters - I may do that when it gets colder, but maybe not. Since the controls are actually in the seat and not in the dash like some Explorers, it is just a couple of wires to get power to the seat.
Hope this helps - now I just need to find a nice console to put between the seats.

Re: Seats that fit in the Ranger
I need help. I have made a 6 week search in a two hour radius for seats or tracks. I have a 1999 regular cab "Sport" Ranger with 60/40 bench seats. I would like to have seats to fit or even tracks from a 93-97 ranger. Can anyone out here help? I have looked in every scrap yard around and looked on Craigslist etc
Mike
