I just finished this swap. Here's some helpful information...
My truck ... 2000 Standard ( Short Cab ) Manual Trans 4 cylinder
I had some shit cloth buckets, i think the truck originally my truck had a 60/40 setup but i don't know for sure.
I found an Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition 1998 with power leather bucket seats at my local you pull it.
I took the seats out (4 10mm bolts on each seat , bolted right into the floor of the explorer)
I brought them home and took out the passenger seat from my ranger. Flipped em both over and compared the bottom of the seats and rail set ups. I couldnt figure any way to move forward with out some different seat tracks. I was not about to start popping rivets.
I looked at this post and found out i needed seat tracks off a 93-93 ranger short cab with 60/40 seats. So that's what I found a 97 std cab ranger, these donor tracks fit the explorer seats perfectly.
As for those tracks fitting my truck, the out side 2 fit perfectly, the inside 2 seemed to be 1/4 in short. I drilled out the tracks to extend them back towards the bed of the truck. Everything bolted right in. if you want pics of this i can take some just ask.
Note: with these seat tracks you lose all the power options on the seats... after doing it, it seems obvious but I wondered about that before i did the swap.
I had to remount the seat belt buckles but that wasn't to hard. I needed a star key set of drivers. I mounted them in to the seat where the seat back connects to the seat bottom.
CAUTION:
If you are tall I would be very careful choosing new seats because you will lose 2-3 inches of leg room. Even though the seat is all the way back it feels much further forward. I think it's mostly because the leather seat backs are actually thinker.
Good luck with your swap guys... FYI here's a list of what I paid
- $40 Leather Power Driver Seat
- $25 Leather Manual Pass Seat
- $10 Seat track off 97
- $10 Seat track off 97
