Yeah I mean it was wasy taking off the tracks on the Explorer seats but when I went to take the ones off my 03 single cab I noticed that it was not going to be as easy as just taking the bolts off the tracks they are connected to other metal parts on the seats. I guess I have to get some single cab bucket seats or any other ones that are a direct swap I don't want to tamper to much withem and mess something up

yep. 98+ seat tracks are integrated into the recline mechanism as well. you can get a set of gen 3 reg cab seat tracks. they may need to be modified slightly to bolt to the floor. one person i've talked to said they bolted right in, while another had to alter the tabs slightly. the explorer seats will bolt directly to the gen 3 tracks.

I have a few sets of gen 3 reg cab tracks if you might be interested in trying this. not sure what part of NC you are in, but i would love to do this first hand as well to see for sure what works and what doesn't.

Default Seats that fit in the Ranger x-cab

Am somewhat confused after gleaning through the various posts about what seats fit in an x-cab.

I have a '98 x-cab ranger 60/40 configuration.

What year range of Explorer seats can I use?

Do I need to put them on the ranger tracks or just bolt them in?

If there is a better/alternative choice than Explorer please shout
it out - I need leather or vinyl because I have a dog that sheds.

Thanks much.

95-01 explorer, up to 03 explorer sport, and 03(maybe 05) sport trac. use the explorer seat tracks (power will work as well). you will have to take the explorer seat belt arm off and bolt your seat belt to the side of the seat.

Thanks much. Do I have to drill or enlarge any holes? My power tools are currently on vacation...

one of the holes may need to be enlarged on the rear seat tracks. may need to drill out the hole where you seat belt will mount as well.

So any 98+ seats will fit 2003? I broke the passenger side (the 40 side of a 60/40) tilt lever/handle and can see no way to to fix just the lever. It must be plastic- broke pretty easy. Mine are black and grey cloth in real good condition and I think I'll have a hard time finding any to match in junkyards. If I go custum and change both how much would I expect to pay?

yep, 98+ should be bolt in. might have to reuse your seat belt latch. you will need to keep it from the same style cab you have. if you can find one that works but has different material, you can swap your covers over.

the shop i work for charges $700+ for custom covered seats. just depends on what materials/design you want.

This might complicate things and probably isnt possible but since I have airbags in my seats, none of these options really apply to my truck esp since I want to keep the airbag functional.
