unless you don't care about not having your air bags none. In 2008 the changed the passenger air bag switch from a manual you did with the key the a pressure switch in the passenger seat. Unless you can figure out how to fool the switch you won't have any air bags deploy. I didn't learn of this untill after I swapped my seats. I'm using 1997 explorer limited seats that have been redone in black leather. You can use 1997-2001 seats.

I never got the guts to try it on mine but you can apparently bypass the airbag system by using a 5 ohm resistor instead on each seats. The system apparently see resistance and think the airbag is still there. That being said I have swapped the sensors from a ford ranger 08+ seats in my ford escape ones and the system work as the escape seats have airbag also.

The harness that came on the floor for the original seat, I had to add power supply for the heated seat and the full power driver seat. I also swaped the seat belt buckle as the escape ones were different. The passenger seat didnt have the sensor to turn off the airbag so I added the sensor which go under the seat, I believe it turns it off if it feel a weight below 70lbs but dont quote me on that. All that work and I aint using em now actually, I need to add a tilted steering as it is like 2 inch higher at its lowest setting on the driver side.

I wish I had seen this thread before today. I was at the yard today and found a set of seats that I liked.
I seen that the seat track were wider them mine and let it go.
Now I see that I could have changed the seat track and they would have fit.
I have a 2000 Ranger XLT. It has 4 doors.
Does that make it a extended cab, or super cab?

Which yard were you at? I've been hunting all the local yards here and haven't found any decent seats that would bolt in at all.

I'm a little confused about how to make sure I get the right seats for a single cab Ranger. I have a 97 2.3 single cab and I want to swap out the bench because of cushion damage and just overall comfort. I went to the junkyard today on my way back to the office and took a look around the yard to see what I could find. They said they always have Explorers but Rangers weren't as common. I know everyone says that Explorer seats will fit but 1.) do I have to be careful of headrests, power seats, etc? Like if I got a set of decent seats out of an Explorer and they were powered, would I be able to use my current seat frames or anything like that to make them manual? Just a stupid shot in the dark question. I did see a couple Explorers that had somewhat decent seats in them but I think they were buckets (not the 60/40 split, they were the separate seats with center console between). They would sell them cheap enough I think but I don't wanna go through the effort and get the wrong ones... can someone advice on my situation?
