Re: Seats that fit in the Ranger
hmm, there's plenty of old junker mustangs sittin in these mississippi junkyards.. plenty of everything for that matter. To the Guys who have swapped single cab seats out; what fits in single cabs and feels most comfortable in your opinion? Cuz if this is simple as convincing some junkyard dog to let me pull out barckets from a 97 ranger without taking the seats for a decent price then I'm all in. The 60 40s from this fleet truck have got ta go

Re: Seats that fit in the Ranger
I love this post! I traded out my old decrepid 60/40 seats for '00 explorer seats. Now all I need to do is work on the console.

Re: Seats that fit in the Ranger
I'm still confused a bit too. I have a 94, and our local salvage yard has some 92 explorers. Lots of tempos, tbirds and others from the 80s. I need a new seat, but have a bench. Can I take the seats from a 85 tbird, and the console and somehow make it work? Would it be a huge job?

Re: Seats that fit in the Ranger
you will need to get some tracks from a 60/40 or buckets seats as well from whatever cab you have. the t-bird seats should work (assuming they are on the list), but not sure about the console. an explorer or ranger shorty console will work.

Re: Seats that fit in the Ranger
Folks,
I've a '96 XLT Supercab and am in need of yet another driver's seat. This will be my fourth. The seat back latch failed on the first and damn near rendered the truck undriveable. I was lucky I was stopped at the time it snapped!
The second just plain wore out as has the third now.
If I'm reading the list correctly, I can bring over a seat from any Explorers from 96-01.
Are those split bench?
If not, which Ranger model years are interchangeable with my '96?
And, aside from measuring the bolt locations directly, how can I tell just looking at them in a wrecker yard?
Thanks!
Madoc

Re: Seats that fit in the Ranger
if you want 60/40s, then any 93-97 ranger ext cab will work, or you can use 98+ ext cab ranger with some seat belt swapping.
if you want buckets, explorer 95-01 will work with very little mods, or you can bolt mustang buckets in along with a few others.
as for telling what each year looks like, just start searching here or google for pics of the different years and start familiarizing yourself with them.

it all depends on what you are trying to achieve. want a custom, unique style with the kind of material you want, then have them recovered at an upholstery shop.
want buckets or a different type of seat, then go find another set you like. you can always get them recovered as well.

REally? I just got some yesterday at the Junk yard for my 2003 single cab and they didn't fit. Did you modify the tracks in any way
BTW the seats were also from a 98 Explorer 2 door

I believe you will have to use YOUR tracks and Brackets from YOUR existing seats and bolt them on to the new ones.
I just put a pair of 95 Mustang seats in my 99 Ranger by using this method.

97 and older seat tracks have 4 bolts that hold them on. simply unbolt them and bolt them to the explorer seats. it's seriously as simple as that. 98+ reg cabs require cutting/welding.
