I just bought a 2000 ext cab ranger with the 60/40 split and the drivers seat is torn to shreds. Will the 60/40 split out of an 2004-2006 fit? I have one found I want to buy but wanna make sure it'll bolt right up.

as long as it is an ext cab, yes. you will just need to swap your seat belts from your seats to the new seats.

I am not having a problem with what fits but with what would help me fit better??? 6' 2" long legs can't afford to lose leg room, any ideas on what will let me keep or improve leg room? I was wondering if lowering seat or raising the seat would help. Thanks, I have standerd cab 60/40 split in porno red.

anything from the list will bolt directly to your stock ranger seat tracks. no need to get explorer tracks for your application.

OK, I'm sorry to ask because you may have answered it. Will all these choices of seats fit my 1999 Ranger?

I'm with Huntinman71 as well. This is the absolute first mod I've done to my Ranger and I went to the local pick a part place today and started the process of removing the power-operated seats from a 1997 Explorer. Unfortunately I've gotta go back with a battery so I can move the seat up. (Unless someone can give me a clever tip on how to remove the innermost back bolts with the seat back.). But before I go back and waste more time....I'm just wanting to check for sure will these 97 Explorer seats fit my 2001 Regular Cab Ranger XLT...and what do I need to do to them to make them fit.

I do know I'll have to get power to them...and have the know-how to do it...but only if they'll fit.

for 98+ guys.....

if you have an ext cab, explorer seats will bolt in (including power optioned ones). if you wanted mustang seats, you would need to grab a set of 93-7 ext cab ranger tracks or a set of 95-01 explorer tracks. then anything on the list will bolt in. you will need to reuse your seat belt and mount it to the side of the seat.

for the reg cab guys, they won't bolt in using the explorer tracks. you would need to get a set of 93-7 reg cab seat tracks. they may require a little modding to get them in, but shouldn't be too much. once you have the 93-7 reg cab tracks, anything from the list will bolt them. however, you will not be able to use a power optioned explorer seat (other than lumbar). the seat will still fit on the tracks, but the plastic on the side of the seat will have the switch. if you can live with a switch that doesn't do anything, then you would be fine. you will also need to reuse your seat belt and mount it to the side of the seat.


to get a power seat out, i take my 12volt craftsman drill with me. i unplug the seat, use jumpers from my battery and hook it to the plug. works well.

Thanks for your quick reply drppdyllwrngr. The owner before must have been a chain smoker and the cab smells like an ashtray so I am in a hurry to replace seats! I have checked several scrap yards and going to another this afternoon. So, from what I understand, for my reg cab 99 ranger I need to first start looking for seat tracks from a 93-97 Ranger. From this point I can use:

Explorer 96-01
Expo sport seats fit 03-05
Tempo & GT/Topaz
Escort/Lynx 1981-1991? GT's
Mustang, If i am lucky enough to find one...
Thunderbird 1982-1988,
Merkur 1986 XR4TI

But, if I cannot find the tracks from the 93-97 Ranger, do I have any other choices?

Well, hit all the 3 salvage yards around my area, all junk (no pun intended) seats, molded, torn and rained on. Is there a place where I can order from online that have new seats that will work? Any ideas?

my local u-pull-it usually has a good selection in good shape. ebay would be the only online place, but you will probably pay quite a bit more for them.

Okay just got done reading this whole thread, 98 ext cab with 99 explorer buckets in currently


I would like to do something like the Sport Trac seats with adj headrest so I can get rid of them and get them recovered IE Low back bucket seats so in theory 01-03 Buckets like this will fit correct?
