umm im confused, what do you mean by "old style" controls and what do you mean by "newer" ?

the hvacs on rangers haven't changed since 95

btw it took about 4 seconds to do the cutting

There are 2 different HVAC controls one has an elctronic blend door actuator and one is cable. one uses t5s bulbs one uses t10 bulbs

that part doesn't make a difference. in 04 or maybe 06, they changed the backing plate on the hvac panel. the exterior looks the exact same, but the front cover snaps over the back piece instead of inside like the 95ish ones.
