Default heater motor

hello everyone, the heat in my 01' ranger used to stop working from time to time and then would randomly start working again. latley it just doesnt work at all and was gonna attempt to replace the blower motor, but wanted to know if anyone had anything like this happen to them. i would hate to by a new blower spend half a day installing it and still have no heat. its starting to cold up

p.s. ive tried banging the box under the dash and also the console near the switch, just not sure how to trouble shoot this it could be a few things. thanks

would love to know the answer to this as well if anyone has run into it. Hoping it is something connected to the blower and not the blower itself. Mine likes to not come on, then about 30-40 mins later it starts up again. No amount of banging or switching things on and off seem to help. Doubt it is related, but my temp/fuel lights randomly work as well as my heater control lights. Everything looks and tests fine. Lights aren't even burned looking. I've seen a lot of posts on the blower resistor, could this be the culprit?

I would replace the blower motor resistor before I got into the big stuff. It's usually about $20 and it takes like 45 minutes to replace it because you need to remove your airbox, the windsheild wiper reservoir and cruise control to gain access to it. (Another brilliant design by Ford)

I have the same issue as well... replaced the resistor and it worked for about a good week... not nothing.

What could be happening?
