Default Pushbutton Start

I found this and was thinking of doing it and was wondering if any of you guys had done a pushbutton start or had seen any of these aftermarket kits done.

i have no idea, but honestly, looks kinda cheesy... if you do a push button system you should hardwire it, and they are a great anti theft set up, i had a friend with a push button set up and some one broke into his truck and they couldnt figure out how to start it by the time he came out with a gun.

but his was real, his ignition didnt do anything.

it looks cool. i would do it except for the hardwireing it into the ignition i dont want to mess with that and the truck end up not starting

there is no way this works.. No offense, but that is way too good to be true. I deal with cars with the push button start and you need a special fob, and they're in high end toyota's and cadillac's.. There is just no way that this plugs in your cig lighter and wire a couple things and it works.

whats the point - Ignited Push Button Starter Kit. Just turn your key to the "on" position (to illuminate Ignited) and hit the button to start your car - if you have to use your key to turn it on just use your key to start your truck.

All that POS does is give you button alternative to turning the key to start. You still need the key. You still need to put the key in and turn it to on. Then you have to push and probably hold the button to start the truck. It is just a different switch than the one in the key cylinder. Waste of money.

yeah might as well get a temporary spring switch from autozone and a length of wire would do the same thing...

Read:
Description: In the racing world, high performance cars start their engines with a race button. Now, get the true feel of high performance with an Ignited Push Button Starter Kit. Just turn your key to the "on" position (to illuminate Ignited) and hit the button to start your car.
The push button system installs directly into the cigarette lighter hole so no drilling is required. The switch is then wired into your ignition system. Professional installation is recommended.

So with that enlightenment, in a 94 back Ranger that has the cig. lighter & ashtray in the lower part of the dash, if it was closed, a person/theif wouldn't know to look for the start button.

Also as stated already.........it's an "anti-theft" deterant. I made a similar system for my green Ranger.........if you had never seen my truck before, I'd gladly give ya the keys with a side bet that you couldn't get it started in 30 secs.

As been stated before, "to each his own"................

also if no drilling is required then your gonna have wires running from your cig lighter to your steering column or you will have to stash them in through a seam between dash panels, i think it will look like poop but to each his own for sure.

i am going to be tearing out my entire interior soon to pain and install racing seats and a center console so i would wire this in while the dash is off so the wires would be behind the dash.

----------

ive also thought about putting a starter button somewhere where it would not be visible but haven't thought a good place to do it. I just liked this kit 'cus it installed into the cigarette lighter hole which i dont have any use for anyway
