Horn on 2010: Wimpy sounding?
Anyone here thinks that the horn on a 2010 or other recent Rangers sound wimpy? My 1996 Mazda has much better sounding horn. Anyway to change it to become more "forceful" sounding?

Do what my friend from Destin, Florida did. Invest in a train horn. He finds people walking down the street and creeps up behind them and lays down on it. lmao.

Re: Horn on 2010: Wimpy sounding?
I bet the problem is that you have a single-note horn on your new truck. Some rangers come with a single-note and others come with a double-note. Mine had a single-note and i agree, it was very wimpy sounding. A trip to the junkyard took care of that, i pulled a double note off of a superduty and its twice as loud now best of all, i paid 5 bucks for it. on the superduties the horn is behind the passenger side front fender if you want to get one of those instead.

Go to the website-they have a clip there. Install wasn't bad-it really just depends on how fussy you are. I cut the connector off of the wiring harness for the stock horn and went from there. I cut it back about 2" from the end in case i needed to go back to stock. You'll need to bend-up a couple of mounting brackets, mount the relay, and run the wires.
Well worth it.

Re: Horn on 2010: Wimpy sounding?
I'm not sure what year they changed it but my 2008 came with only one horn where as the older trucks have 2. I have the stock horn out of a 2001 in there now. It's not much of a difference but I like it better than the one that came on the truck.

Is this a direct hook up? Will any f150 f250 etc work?

And I love flashing drivers with my 130-lumen tac light or letting go with some OC when they do crap like that to me. LMAO.
Tell your friend to tread lightly.
Just to keep this on topic, I have a pair of PIAA Sports horns ready for install; they should be a definite improvement over stock. Here's a link (non-PIAA, but has better pics).
