Default Lights in Sport Trac Cluster

I'm getting a Sport Trac gauge cluster, and while I got the dash apart I was thinking of getting some LEDs for the cluster. Does anyone know how many LEDs I would need to get and/or have recommendations for the ones to get?

Thanks.

You need six bulbs with the holders I believe. Buggman would know which brand would suit it. I just can't remember at the moment!

Ok, let me rephrase. I am looking just for the PnP type LEDs. I am not so interested in making a whole big project out of this. I just want to avoid dead spots with the back lighting. Basically I am asking how many bulbs are already in the cluster, which it sounds like six thanks to Clinton.

PnP bulbs give poor results and hotspots.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

From the pictures I've seen, they do a hell of a lot better than the regular bulbs factory installed.

For example....
leds

Looks pretty damn good to me for PnP.

I'm aware this isn't up to your snuff, you have some amazing LED stuff going on, but from what I'm seeing it works exactly how I want. I do not want to spend the time and effort creating led projects like yours. They are amazing, but I'd rather spend my time other ways. I appreciate you giving your opinion, though I think you could have done it in a better way.

Oh - your leaving the stock green filter on. Color changes require filter removal and that is what causes the hotspots.

I could have done it a better way. I could have etched a PCB. That's the next step. I'll eventually market those and sell them on here for people who want good results without the work.

Ya I never said I wanted to change the color. I actually like green and it'll go well with my head unit that lights up green.

When I said you could have done it a better way, I meant telling me your opinion. I have no ability to tell you how to better do your LED mods. I have no room to be telling you how to do that.

I prefer extremely bright gauge clusters so I do intensive modding but you don't have to go my route to achieve a pretty looking cluster.

Actually I prefer every spot to be even color, like the OEMs do.

Say what you want, how many PMs do you get daily asking "will you do my cluster?", "will you do my headlights", "will you do my tail lights"

You know so much more about it I'll just send them all your way. - but to quote one of your own threads.....

Great youre awesome at LED shit, we know. That's why I said I realize this isn't up to snuff with your work. Difference is, I don't care to put in the time and effort for your results. I would be quite happy with what I saw from the ones I linked earlier in this thread. I don't think he was trying to say he knows more, just that not everyone wants to go all out and do it your way. It can still look good for the average person (audiophile:music as jp7:leds), without reinventing the wheel...
