Question seat swap, questions

a little history on the truck, 89 ranger xlt did not have power seats, i did the 4.0 conversion and instead of going to advanced adapters or a similar place i ran the old wiring harness from the 92 explorer the motor came from. had to replace every wire from the head lights to the tail lights except the speaker wires (and just a side note half way threw that little project i was kicking my self in the butt big time for being a pinny pinching tight ass)

ok that is the brief history of the truck

my question is. i am currently putting 08 taurus power seats in. the explorer wiring harness has a power and ground wire for seats but there are more wires and plugins on the seats then expected. if any one has any suggestions, tips, tricks or general know how about a conversion like this any and all info will be helpful.

thanks

I am guessing maybe the 92 seats had less options for power, whereas the newer seats have otpiosn for many more thing in them.

Cool Over a decade...

Yeah, you're talking over a decade of integrations. I'd just put the seats in and enjoy the comfort.
I did research on my '98 Ranger before I swapped out the seats up to an '01. Everything was compatible, and it was an easy swap. Very comfortable too!

you will find some of the wires are for the airbag sensors, if a kid is in the seat the airbagf will turn off due to the lower weight,, just find the wires the aill control the power options of the seat and you will be ready to go

Gotta love the 01 seat. I'm large, tall and HEAVY and I'm very happy with the stock seat. Now I just need to move those cupholders closer to the centre storage.

What the 92 seats had was a power lumbar, and possibly back and forth.
What you have now has power lumbar, forward and reverse, tilt backward and forward and possibly the bolsters on the sides, plus seat memory, and raise and lower.
Best suggestion would be to go to the ASY (auto salvage yard) and get as much of the wiring running to those seats as you can.
From past experience, this could end up taking a half day. Don't cut any of the wires until you find out where they originate.
This is why I have manual seats in both my RBV's.
