Default Should my motor be loud?

I have a 2000 4x4 with the 4.0. The motor runs fine and the noise is normal. The problem is that I can hear it running while inside the truck. Is this normal.

I hear the motor running in about every vehicle I drive...ranger, focus, crown vic, chevy van, caddilac (although very soft except in acceleration), impala, lets see, what else have i driven in the past...oh yes, a charger, a ford mondeo (in europe) VW passat, alfa-romero (in europe), F-150, mustang, caliber, mazda 3, forte (the list goes on, but I'll stop here)....yep I've heard the motor run in all of them...
Now, if there's a lot of ambient noise it may be hard to tell if the motor is running or not, but normally, I can hear the motor in everything.

I see you have a 4.0. Is yours any louder than any other vehicle while sitting in the cab?

I don't think so. I hear it running. I can tell when it is. I've had rangers with the 2.3, 3.0 and two with the 4.0. I can't tell any difference. Maybe there's a hole plug missing in your firewall or something that is allowing more sound into the cab.

Pop the hood and get under the steering wheel and look to see if you see daylight. Run the engine and try to follow the sound to see if you can tell where its coming from. Thats about all I can tell you. If its no louder outside the truck than normal then it shouldn't be any louder inside.

thread cleaned up, lets keep it civil fellas. Brandon, a word of advice, insulting the members of this forum with your 3rd post here isnt a good way of getting answers.
