i have the same problem with my ranger.
The duct doors in the dash control where the air is directed such as head, feet, defrost or any combonation.
These duct doors are vacume controlled on rangers, this means that you have a vacume leak in that circuit.
THe air is more than likely coming out the dofrost vents which are at the top and sides of the dash
more than likely it is a hose that runs to the vacume bisquit or the bisquit itself.
THis is located on the passanger side towards the front of the engine compartment. If you take the air intake off and look down towards the front of the engine compartment you will see a dome or circular chamber with two small hoses running to it. That is what controls the doors.
Hope that helps you out some

What do you mean it blows out all around the dash?

it comes out by the windshield but not out of the defrost vents, and by my feet but not out of the floor vents. does that make sense? its kinda bad explanation.

Re: no air comes out of vents
there is a big round ball that attaches to the passenger innerfender well. there is 2 lines coming out of it, this is 100% needed for your air diverts. check that. i had this issue and mine was broken. it is possible that it can be in your cabin, but unlikly.

Re: no air comes out of vents
I think you're all on the wrong track. Its not blowing out the defroster vents like it does if you lose vacuum or break the door. Its blowing out all over the dash, not the ducts. You're going to have to pull the dash apart to find the piece that isn't put together properly.

Re: no air comes out of vents
ok i found the orb thing you were talking about and one of the hoses going to it is melted at one point. is there a way to repair this? cut and tape back together? or do i need to replace it?

Re: no air comes out of vents
Your looking for a problem that doesn't exist. You have a disconnected air duct behind the dash. Vacuum has nothing to do with this.

you can cut the melted spot and cut it and splice it back together with some vac tubing, most auto parts stores should have it

Or you can keep ignoring the real problem I guess.

im sorry, but this statement tells me all of it, and with the "melted line" on the vac ball im willing to bet thats the issue. time will tell.

Re: no air comes out of vents
Is there even a place on top of the dash the air can come out other than the defrost? Then you have the two holes on the corner that blow during defrost....I think you're wrong about it comeing out everywhere....When my vaccuum on my ball was unplugged, it blew out the defrost and the floor. The melted wire/line is probably your problem...You just arent describing it correctly.
If it isnt your vaccuum line...then fireranger is right.

Re: no air comes out of vents
sorry to hijack the thread but i also have the exact same problem however ive looked high and low and cannot seem to find the vacuum line problem. there is suction coming from the hose on the top of the orb however nothing from the bottom hose. there is nothing happening at the bottom of the orb. could the orb be the problem? What is this "orb" called anyways?
