Default installing a tach in my87 ranger?

do i need an adapter for a tachometer to work in my ranger?
87 super ranger xlt
4" body lift
6" suspension lift
2 12" diamond subs with 5k watt amp ensuring i have the biggest and loudest ranger...well at least in my town...
Put an arrow on your attena... trust me you'll feel better.

Try connecting the tach signal input to the dark green/yellow wire at the coil or at the TFI module or at the instrument cluster plug.
