Default dash trim

I have an '04 Edge that has a flawed instrument trim piece around the radio/heater controls. I'd like to replace it but it is $100 from the dealer for just the black plastic trim. It seems that I've seen a carbon fiber piece on later models. Is my memory correct? If so, what model year has the carbon fiber trim? Any kits available that will dress up the trim that is flawed on my truck?

Thanks!

You can get the bezel for cheaper on ebay, search ranger bezel or explorer bezel, they are the same since 94 or so. The carbon fiber ones came on the Mazda B-series trucks.

Or for even less you could check a junk yard. Although you'd have to find one with whatever combination of 4x4/fog lights you have, since the holes for both those switches are on the bezel. I'll never understand why Ford didn't integrate the fog lights into the headlight switch....

Or why they made it so the fogs and high beams can't be on at the same time...glad I fixed that one...haha.

Is it just a Ford thing to do that? I know my Dad's Focus you have to turn on the headlights then pull the knob for the fogs to come on. My Civic does not have fogs so cannot compare in that one...

There is actually a real reason why they do that. Can't remember off hand, but I'm going to try to find where I read it. I agree with you, though. It's dumb.

Is it a twist for the headlights and a pull for the fogs?

Ya believe so

We had a 2001 beetle that way. Took over a month to finally figure it out.

Yeah I forgot they changed over to that switch. Now I remember seeing the switch like that at the auto show last year. My dads '00 F-250 and my moms '01 Focus both have the switch where you pull out for fogs.
