Default Dash lighting

Are the 3 circles (off, parking & dash, headlights) above the light switch supposed to light up in my '03 XL ? Also, how about the ashtray? Thanks.

Yes they are suppose to light up. Only problem is you cant just replace a bulb. You either have to buy a new switch of solder in a new light.

it's pretty easy to do. when i did mine, i think it took more time to get the panel out than it did to swap the bulb.

easiest way to find out is to pull out the switch and check if it has a bulb. if it does, then yeah lol. easy to "mod" and replace the bulb with an LED just make sure you dont get one at radioshack that only has 6000MCD and pay like 5 bucks for it....go on ebay or whatever and look for 13000MCD output 5mm leds for it. its like 6 bucks for 100 of them haha and you can get basically any color!

Radioshack is rape for LEDs. You don't want high MCD here, you want even distribution.

High output LEDs will give you a really bright "running lights" logo, but the headlight and "off" settings will be too dim.

You want a nice high angle LED, which naturally the wide pattern will lower the MCD rating.

My LEDs in my 2 trucks are 700/800 mlm (at .020a) respectively and they look very bright.
