Default Cruise control non functional

I have just bought ranger truck and my cruise is broken. No lights on dash. The rubber boot is destroyed (mines in a stalk) but no lights. I tried the diagnostic from another thread to get into debug mode but nothing. The owners manual I have doesn’t identify the fuse that it’s on so that would help. Gonna go press buttons as I turn the ignition and see if I get any dashboard lights. The off/on resume button is a fixed position slider - nothing in the off position. Will try on and resume / accelerate which is sprung. Anyone know the standard readings on the connections ? It’s 9 pin

The 2005 Ranger didn't have the cruise control on a stalk. Sounds like a failed DIY hack job and good luck diagnosing that mess.

I got it ! There was a connector displaced under the dash. Reconnected and it’s now working. One odd symptom and an observation. 2 Wires into the connector have been clipped. Both brown. No sign of the other ends. Assume one went to the dashboard light which is not lighting up. The other odd symptom is that now, when cool, the engine idles at about 1750rpm. It makes it nicer to shift gears but I suspect an issue with a sensor (inlet airpressure?) Once she gets warmed up idle drops back to around 700rpm

Still a few bits to clean up. The handbrake release handle is broken. Part ordered. Headlamps cleaned and recoated.

Power seems a bit off above 3krpm. It’s 3L and seems to run out of wind around 65. I will take it to an exhaust specialist and see if the cat needs attention - mentioned as most likely cause from several sources.

I also see a bit more engine vibration generally than I would like. Not severe. Wondering if the engine mounting needs switching out. Have had that In Other cars like the Honda van but not sure if that’s a likely issue for the ranger
