Need duplicate key and fob
About to take delivery of my new to me 2011 Ford Ranger XLT, Reg Cab, 2WD. The dealer only has one key and one FOB(and it is not a Ford dealer).
What is the best way to go about getting a new key cut to match the existing one and then new FOBs to be programmed to this truck?
I don't mind buying from the dealer if I have to but I would like it if there was some sort of DIY for the programming so I don't have to be dropping off the truck and having to sit at the dealership and wait.
Thanks!

Visit your local Ford Dealer,
- You'll need your registration and or Bill of Sale
- Of course some form of ID will likely be requested as well
- You'll need at least one working remote/Transponder key if it has it too
Parts Depts usually can & will cut the keys but then Service will generally charge you anywhere between 30mins to an Hour of electrical labor to program a key.
The FOB isn't cheap, sticker shock is a real thing.
Some Locksmith companies like POP & Lock may save you a few dollars and may even offer mobile visit to your home too for convenience so you may want to check. At least if you're gonna pay top dollar, may as well go all out in convenience at least.
That is a broad statement across the board for most dealership policies, regardless of make. Hope it's helpful.

Re: Need duplicate key and fob
the newer key fob may be different than my 05, but for mine they are all over the net cheap. I bought one on ebay or amazon that looks and functions exactly like the ones from ford. 2 pack was 25 dollars and came with batteries. Then drove to a local lock smith and they had it programmed to the truck in five minutes. I watched them do it and was shocked how easy. then they made me a key for 5. I think I was out about 50 after all was done.

Re: Need duplicate key and fob
Not a problem!
I'm a Parts Counterperson and deal with this every single day of the work week. We charge $25 per key for your rig (Rotunda Ford genuine PATS "jewel" keys) and a programming fee of $66 regardless of how many keys you add. The keyfob is $56 and we program that for free, or in conjunction with the key programming. Keyfob can be programmed yourself at home though.
Aftermarket (aka eBay/Amazon) fobs (and keys) are absolute garbage and rarely last from what I've personally experienced or experienced professionally.
You drove in with a working key....we have ZERO reason to confirm ownership of the rig. If you towed it in with zero keys or lost keys, 142% we would need proof of ownership though. Plus, Ford only goes back 10 years to the day so to do for yours, we'd be referring you to a local mobile locksmith to perform the service, also using genuine Ford key(s). We care more about you getting what you need than us making money off you.
