I live in the Denver Colorado area. Unfortunately here we have emissions testing. My 96 has a 97 explorer cluster swap to into it for the tachometer. for some reason in the 97 explorer cluster the check engine light doesn't work I've checked the bulb and everything like that and it's all good because I can swap the bulb into another spot and it works. in Colorado they will fail your emissions if your check engine light doesn't turn on when the truck starts. Is there some way to fix this?

Put the old cluster back in...

honestly, might be best all around to find another cluster. I bought my 'new' cluster with tack from a guy on here for $40-50. They pop up for sale on here now and then, plus ebay usually has a few best i remember if you're needing to get it soon for testing

...OR, there's got to be a way to test the circuits! if you have the patience for that, you might get lucky and only have to clean a bit of corrosion off of a pin on a connector behind the cluster. maybe somebody on here can settle that a bit better for you

i appreciate it. They gave me a paper tag that lasts me till sep. The coolant gauge also reads high.
