Default fuel guage issue

99 3.0 flex fuel. replaced fuel pump and sending unit, filler pipe and hoses. guage not registering. does anyone know what a "shlosh module" is ? its supposed to be in the cluster. can a replacement be purchased?
or can it be disconnected or repaired? guage was not working before, and fuel pump was bad, so I replaced it....thx,jim

I looked on line and found some pictures of the module.
If it is the one I think it is, is mounted on the rear of the gauge cluster.
Mine, an '03, has a location the Module slides in.

I assume the mounting and the location will vary with each change in Generation of Rangers.

We are talking '99 so the Dash is close to being the same unit.

Default fuel guage issue

Mine was doing this a a year ago or more. Dealer replaced fuel tank due to some type of filler neck recall.

If it's a slosh module I'm not sure they are still available retail. The easiest way to get one is head out to the junkyard or local pick-n-pull and pull a cluster and pop it out. All of about a ten minute job. Trucks already in the junkyard. no need to be too careful with the wiring. Slosh module is in a slot on the back right IIRC. might have a small connector, but I think it just pops in and out and has a set of contact patches to carry the power. Can't imagine it being more than $5-$10, but it is small enough to get lost in a tool bag so be careful. <wink wink>
