Default Seat question.

Saw the sticky but could not figure out an answer.

2001 reg cab ranger. Drivers side split bench.

The lever for tilting back broke so I need to get a new seat. There is a seat from an extended cab 2001 ranger at the junkyard for $60 in decent shape.

From what I understand the seat tracks are different. Is it possible to swap the tracks from my current one to the extended cab one and how hard is it?

Im aure it wouldnt be that hard at all, just drilling some holes. Maybe look into swapping in some explorer seats?

Just saw a post via that thread. Its possible, but 98+ rangers have permanent seat tracks so youd have to drill out the rivets

Hmm. Don't feel like drilling the rivets. May have to though.

As for the explorer seats I want to stick with the factory bench. It really sucks to fit 3 people in the front but sometimes I have to. Unless the explorer seats are bench and I just missed it.

They are not bench. Maybe just have a gander under the seat and see what piece is actually broken? Maybe you can get it rewelded or something

birdman3131,

How did this work out ?

Extended Cab Track are longer than Standard 2 dr Cabs and would require drilling, if they even fit.

My 2003 Seat Tracks had bolt-on tracks, if your seat tracks bolt-on, and the donor seats tracks bolt-on, then you are all set the seats should swap over.

If I recall, the Lever you are having trouble with is located on the back of the seat, if so then that could be another option, swap the backs.
