My armrest/console is the flip up kind, no integrated cupholders, and the top opens up for storage. I've read a ton on this forum about you guys replacing/fixing cracked lids -- lucky for me that hasn't happened yet. My console seems loose on its hinge as when I open the lid the whole armrest really tries to flip back up! When down, it also sits at an angle, the front almost resting on the seat instead of level. Is there something to fix somewhere? I've been looking for schematics of the whole armrest but so many only deal with replacing the lid. Thanks!

Ford made the armrest hinges out of plastic and they break. Mine broke.The best repair I found is to replace the hinges with 2000 ford explorer armrest repair kit from Rockauto. It is a Heritage arm100 armrest bracket repair kit. It's all metal and fits the ranger console.I paid 54.79 two years ago.

thats the wrong armrest, he described a split bench arm rest not a bucket seat armrest

on that note, I don't know how to fix it just didn't want you to end up spending $55 on the wrong armrest repair

I have a split bench 60/40. I did see the replacement hinge mod but I couldn't find instructions on any that looked like mine. Do I have to take the whole seat out to get at this hinge?

No there's four bolts deep inside that sucker. I have the same problem with mine, the whole console is loose. It actually mounts into the floorboard was thinking of going with a bigger bolt or screw?

Whoops my bad I miss quoted. you got the 60 40 I believe the hinge is on the side of the armrest you have to pop something off in there's a giant Torx bolt in there
