Default Identifying aftermarket stereo system

Hey guys, I'm not really sure if this is the place to put this kind of post, but I have a problem. My 02 ranger I bought has an aftermarket stereo system, but the previous owner left a faceplate that didn't match the back plug, as it was too set back.

In the last picture, I didn't want to plug it back in all the way because it was a nightmare to get back off again. Any help IDing any of this as well as how to get a faceplate that fits this setup would be awesome!

It looks to me, that the head unit is sitting too far into the dash. Minimal, if any of the silver cage should be showing. The face isn't meant to go into the cage, but rest in front of it on the unit.

Thank you, I'm assuming that if I take it off I'll be able to push it farther up and use it?

Also, could I get a faceplate that has a CD player in it?

Yeah, try removing the unit forward toward you. Looks like face flaps down and you would insert cd in slot. The faceplate doesn't want to waste real estate for an ugly slot.

I was wondering why there was a hinge-type bracket on it. Thanks for your help!

Sure, now hopefully your face plate matches the unit.

You could always take the cage/head unit out of the dash. Normally they will have a sticker on them with the brand, model number, specs, etc. You should be able to look at that and compare it to the faceplate itself and make sure they match. Otherwise, it looks like the right one, but as skirbykat said, it looks to be slid too far into the cage.

The faceplate does plug in and attach correctly to the head unit? You just have fitment issues due to it being too far into the dash, right?

With your guys help, I was able to take apart the front bezel where the hvac controls were, and pushed the stereo farther up in the cage. It sits perfectly now, and I can pop it off to put CDs in
