Cabin air filter is no longer a mystery.
So not only did I buy and install a cabin air filter last week, but in the course of doing my homework on the thing I inadvertently was able to debunk statements like, "Rangers never came with them..." and "No Ranger in the History of US sold Rangers, ever came with a cabin air filter", etc, etc. Some did in fact come OEM in a particular Ranger, one with a production of around 1,500 vehicles (if what I'm reading was correct), one with the owners manual (I now have it) calling for replacement once a year, and one for which the procedure for replacement is spelled out in the FSM (I happen to now have that for one of the MY's). The Ranger in question was only leased (translation, just a rental) beginning in 1998 through 2002 and when it was over, Ford got them back. However, due to customer demand roughly 400 people were able to buy them some for allegedly $1. What Ranger sold new in the US came equipped OEM with a cabin air filter???
The Electric ones, the EV. The reason the Ranger EV came into existence? CARB. Mystery over. Well, except for just one thing.......the why did the cabin air filter only go in the EV's, which I'll explain if needed.
