Default Schematics?

Hello All:

I just bought a 94 Ranger 3.0 Vulcan, 4 speed auto trans with 100,000 miles on it.

I have been going through it and while installing a water temp gauge sensor, I cracked the aluminum female bore.

Do you have a schematic of the intake block cover that I have screw-up so that I can remove it and have it TIG'd?

THANKS!

GCARCHER.

Might be better off looking thru junk yards for a replacement parts. Any kind of welding on cast parts like that can weaken the metal further and cause it to crack later on. Already tried it on an aircraft radar housing and the welding shop messed it royally since aluminum turns to putty when hot. just my 2 cents worth...

Thanks for the heads up on the used part. I have "solved" the weeping problem for now with 3 tablespoons of finely ground pepper. Amazing.

Sounds like you've known about that little fix for a while, well glad it worked. Have to keep it in mind when it's the only option left before replacing the part.

Thanks for all your help. I am looking for a replacement lower intake to replace my cracked one.
On an other note, when I got the rig it got 11.5 MPG. After using this site to figure out how to "Fix" this issue, I got 21.5 MPG out of 2/3 tank in town and climbing a 900 foot hill to my house and 1/3 freeway driving at 65 MPH. I suspect about 24 is possible on the freeway.
The idle is still a bit shaky so I plan to clean out the exhaust intake passages in the upper intake manifold.
One last question: I advanced (via the distributer) the timing to 16 degrees BTDC, rather then the 10 specified. Was this pointless as the computer overrides this 16 degrees and should I reset to 10?
Thanks again!
